Women’s March On New Jersey 2017

January 21, 2017 By Gayle Furbert

Designer: Gayle Rembold Furbert

New Jersey’s Sister March

THE CHALLENGE

The Women’s March of New Jersey was organized by founder, Elizabeth Meyer as a sister event to the national Women’s March on Washington, D.C. which promoted human rights and social justice. The event was schedule for Saturday, January 21, 2017 in Trenton NJ. Elizabeth had never organized a march, but understood the importance of design in developing the vision and mission of such an historic event. She immediately put out the request for a graphic designer who could design a logo and develop a brand that recognized the strength and the empowerment that comes when people stand together for good.

THE SOLUTION

Gayle Rembold Furbert of We Design For Good, responded to Elizabeth’s request and together they started a collaboration that built the foundation of the brand and requirements for the event. They selected the color purple as the primary color for the March with accents of red, blue and yellow. By adding an icon of people embracing, the logo aligned with the slogan of the March… Women United – Together We Rise!

Gayle developed all the design assets, which included the official logo, signage, social media icons, buttons, stickers and tee shirts. The bold logo, strong color palette, appropriate font usage and overall brand gained tremendous popularity and built a huge following. Requests for shirts, buttons and signs grew daily.

THE RESULTS

Designs were delivered on time and ultimately exceeded client expectation. Originally the estimate for the number of attendees was 2500 – due to the brilliant social media campaigns, strong branding and easily recognizable logo the total number of participants was 7500 exceeding all expectations.
