A Watershed National Event
THE CHALLENGE
As the national conversation heated up over the issue of healthcare, a multidisciplinary group of healthcare professionals advocating for equitable healthcare reform decided to organize a rally in Washington DC on July 29, 2017. Their demand… Healthcare must be a right for all and not a privilege for the few.
Understanding the need for a creative who could translate their message and promote the upcoming event, Gayle Rembold Furbert of We Design For Good was contacted and agreed to become the official graphic designer for the national Rally for Healthcare.
THE SOLUTION
The most interesting aspect of discovery was how each medical specialty explained why generic icons normally used to represent healthcare did not work because of the differences between the various practices. So it was agreed not to use medical icons but emphasize community and how healthcare is a right for all. Being a federal issue it was obvious to use red/white and blue along with fonts that displayed strength and empowerment. After several meetings, requirements were captured and Gayle started work on the designs. The final logo displayed bold typefaces, patriotic colors and displayed an icon representing a community of individuals.
THE RESULTS
The boldness of the logo and branding resulted in a tremendously successful rally in Washington, DC. Designs were delivered on time and ultimately exceeded client expectation. Thousands of participants rallied peacefully in support of healthcare reform emphasizing the message that healthcare is a right for all and not a privilege for the few.
