A Response To Gun Violence In America

The Challenge:

March For Our Lives NJ was a student-centered, student-led event. A diverse student committee came together from schools across northern, central, and southern New Jersey to organize the March. Support came from Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense In America – New Jersey and its local chapters, Women For Progress, and Elizabeth Meyer, a teacher, mom, and founder and lead organizer of the Women’s March On NJ.

As the official state event it took place on Saturday, March 24th, at Military Park in Newark in conjunction with the national March For Our Lives event in Washington D.C. and with sister events across the state and country. They were in need of design services that could be delivered in a few weeks!

The Solution:

Gayle Rembold Furbert of We Design For Good was contacted by the organizers and asked to provide design services for the event. Although, the national organizers had produced a national logo, we were asked to create a version that was specific to Newark, NJ. We also felt that the logo should reflect the diversity of our state and nation so those elements were added. Upon approval the logo was then shared with vendors for tee shirts. The March banner was designed with bold colors and strong typography with the March slogan, #NEVER AGAIN. While a larger banner reflecting the same design was created for the stage.

The Results:

Designs were delivered on time and ultimately exceeded client expectation. More than 1,000 participants in the peaceful and non-partisan march were motivated by the need to reduce gun violence in our schools and nation. The March For Our Lives branding successfully promoted the event and energized the participants.
